Campaign: “Less Weapons, Fewer Tragedies” (Police Klapa St. Michael.)
The campaign “Less Weapons – Fewer Tragedies” is promoted by Ana Rucner, who, for this purpose, played a cello made from voluntarily surrendered weapons by citizens. This unique cello was crafted by master instrument maker Zoran Gojmerac. The cello was conceived by the Prevention Service of the Police Directorate and is permanently owned by the Ministry of Interior. The “Less Weapons – Fewer Tragedies” campaign began in 2007 with the signing of an agreement between the Ministry of Interior and UNDP, and has been continuously implemented throughout the Republic of Croatia ever since. The campaign aims to raise public awareness and encourage the voluntary surrender of weapons, as well as to increase citizens’ understanding of the dangers of improper handling of weapons and explosive devices. In other words, it seeks to encourage citizens to remove from their homes anything that could endanger them or their family members, which is why the campaign slogan is “Get rid of weapons without sanctions and make your home safer.”
